Wires in the boot (X5 3.0d Sport 2003 [E53])

Post by wayno77 » Mon Mar 10, 2014 9:32 am

Hi All,

I recently became the proud owner of an X5 3.0d Sport E53 2003.
I have lots of questions but for now, as there is no factory fitted sub in the boot, I am thinking of installing one in the boot. Whilst looking around the boot, I have found two wiring looms that are not plugged in. One is where the sub would go in the right-hand "cupboard":

And then there is one right at the rear of the boot by the spare wheel:

Do either of these have anything to do with audio? Could anyone tell me what they are for?

Many thanks for any help you may have.

Wayne

One at rear is for the Trailer electrics..
But will need a trailer module next to the battery

Not sure of the one in the side cubby..
I have another battery sat in there!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

The blue plug in the right cubby is for rear seat electric backrest , there should be another blue plug
on the opposite side behind the cd changer.

Unfortunately if your X was not equipped with DSP the wiring loom for the sub and amplifier
  will not be present.

Thank you both X MAN and Steamyrotter for your help.

Are there any pre-outs on the back of the head unit?

I have just performed the v32 (SW 4-1/00) update to the head unit thanks to this forum for pointing me in the right direction.

It's also odd that there is no Bluetooth - no pairing button and no mic and no folding in mirrors!

Thanks again for clearing that up for me.

The Bordmonitor option (as the picky) uses the BM54 module in the boot (by the battery)
doesn't usually come with Pre outs on them but you can send them off  to be modified with them.
There are a number of upgrades possible.

There are posts on here somewhere about it.
