My gearbox is ok

Post by Steamyrotter » Tue Aug 23, 2016 10:33 pm

My X is now EX...

White van man didn't stop at a junction and I couldn't avoid him...

Judging by the fact there is now no front left wing, the wheel is about 6 inches further back,
Air bags deployed and not many windows left, and the bonnet is slightly crumpled
I would say it's not going to buff out...

If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...

But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Thanks AW8

It is testament to the build of these that we only had a few bashes and bruises.

The Transit van on the other hand!!!!

Glad to hear you and the family and dogs are all ok, rs always a shock to have a heavy accident for all involved.

Sorry about you X5 and yes I guess they are tough but we do get attached to them, but she did what you needed when it counted in protecting all the passengers. Hopefully there should be little dispute about liability and settlement.

If going for for a replacement there are still a lot E53s about but you may want to consider the newer E70 but you don't seem to be able to retro fit options as much.

The useless bastard Van Driver !!

It scares me some times, that my beloved machine could be wiped out by some Cock on a motorbike, are a baffoon in a 2CV...

Even if the insurance pays out.... NOTHING repays the love & attention you gave to bring the car up to the spec you did...

So sorry to hear of the damage - but good to hear that the X5 kept you safe... glad you lot are OK.

Will you get another ?
With the work & love you put into that car, is it worth buying it from the insurance company for a pittance & use the extra cash to buy another & then transfer all the pretty bits ??

My X5 has EVERY OEM option & i would be unlikely to find another like it - ever... so I'd want to keep the remains to hop-up another replacement...

Is the Van Driver still alive, or did you put him out of his misery at the scene ???
I think I'd have removed his internal organs by the side of the road !!

Thanks for the messages folks

Will be looking for new once insurance all sorted out.

Would love to get a 40d but may only be able to stretch to a 30d.
Either way it is looking like staying with an X5 especially now I know how they react in an accident

She was a good car and protected us to the end..

Obviously cannot give too many details out yet until investigations are complete but will let you know later
