New BMW Alloys for Winter Tyres...(with pics).

You may have read my other posting about me taking the plunge and finally purchasing a set of Winter Tyres for the X..... Initially my thoughts were to run winter tyres all year round... However, further research (plus me realising how much hassle it would be to swap tyres over on the same rims ever...

Re: first ever test drive in a 4.6iS, some answers please

Walk Away. End of. It took me 9 or 10 viewings before I found the 'X' for me. All buttons worked. Everything in place and where it was supposed to be. No hard sell or contrived stories (they all do that 'sir!) because it wasn't needed.....I just knew it was right. That said, being the ultra-cautious...

Autoexpress Used Car Awards....Large SUV

Received an e-mail from Autoexpress this morning highlighting their used car awards (sorry if this has been posted already!) Whilst the Land Rover Disc 3 took the award, both the E70 and E53 took 'nearly new' and 'value choice' slots :) Heres the link to the article: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car...

Funnily enough, my reason for starting it in the first place was exactly the same as yours.

Re: Fuel economy on 3.0d?

I know this will read as being a bit sad....but since I bought my X5 (2005 3.0d) I've kept a spreadsheet detailing fuel economy. All calcs are based on brimming the tank.... Total Mileage Travelled : 3459 Total Fuel Used : 123.5234 Gallons MPG averaged over distance/fuel used : 28MPG The car is neve...

Re: New Rubber for Winter

Last few years we have gone skiing in the Austrian Alps. Always pick up a Group B or C rental from Salzburg/Innsbruck airport (such as a Fiesta/Corsa/Polo/Golfetc)....and am always totally amazed by how these smallish front wheel drive cars climb up through snow covered roads (and I mean snow covere...

Anyone used these jacking 'locators' before?

With my recent purchase of winter tyres, thoughts strayed to the actual jacking up of the car not only in a safe way (with axle stands of course!)...but also in a way that will minimise any potential damage to the car underbody Trawling through the various car sites, I came across these jacking 'loc...

[quote=""ice climber""]Hi Just had a new set of Wintrac Extreme 4 fitted on my 19" rims. Good price at £690 fitted etc. Been on now for around 1000 miles, just in time for the very wet roads last week. All I can say is that they are very quiet and very good in the wet if an...

Re: New Rubber for Winter

Hmm...now that makes interesting reading...especially the Autocar article on leaving winter tyres on all year round..: "Talking to the people at Conti here’s the really interesting thing - winter tyres aren’t just for snow, they can be used on slush, ice, frost and even wet roads. In fact a...
