Re: Speed camera /detector

Simples..................... Get the WAZE app on your phone/tablet. Its the best I have found so far and its real time and above all its completely free. I travel the length of the country a few times of the year and we all use it in my family and have found it faultless. https://www.waze.com/en-GB/...

Re: Not put off .............

Just a small point re the front tyres being worn on the outside edges.  ( and Im not saying the car wasn't a dog / badly prepared ) but just for when you go look at the next one. It is a well known issue and the tracking may well have been within tolerance. Look on here many posts regarding this. I ...

Re: x5 for overlanding

Just a thought............... Don't Go looking for a car in Cyprus or Mombasa. They probably run a little warm. My thinking is this.................there are more cars registered in Cyprus than people ( so something doesn't add up ) and over the last 10 years every car stolen in my area seems to end...

Re: 4.8is - cracked open front diff

I am NOT an authority on this but every time I  have taken  the X5 for an MOT ( I go to the same place every time ) and have had 2 E53's ( 4.4 and 4.8iS) and currently have a 40D every single time without exception the MOT tester avoids the rollers and the brake test is done in a completely differen...

Re: x5 for overlanding

Its just an observation..................... The UN use Toyota land Cruisers and they have 1000's of them......for a reason. Every insurgent you ever see in the news is driving a Toyota of some description. Given how they use and abuse them , i would suggest that if they are good enough for them the...

Re: F15 Used prices

Go online and do an insurance quote. A lot of them use algo's to fill in the " market value " part of the form . I suspect its quite a good base line. I used money supermarket and compare the meerkat etc etc. They all came up with the same figure. I have a 2013 40d SE individual with lots ...

Re: x5 for overlanding

I have absolutely no experience so just thinking out aloud.................. 1.Given the terrain and debris, should you convert the rear self levelling suspension to std coil spring and shock instead of the vulnerable bags ? 2. How sensitive are the sensors that trigger airbags ? You don't want to n...

Re: Back to square one

I am no expert, but given you have water all over the car I would agree with the last reply and suggest its the pan roof.
X5 ownership shouldn't have that level of misery. I think the garage has to take some of the blame as they clearly haven't been able to solve the issue.

Re: AUC 40D buying advice

Hi, As the man said its all personal choice. Comfort seats , surround view, heated steering wheel, 4 zone climate control , 7 seats , folding mirrors privacy glass , 20" alloys and I don't find the run flats an issue at all. Personally I would avoid the pan roof. You rarely open it , cant reall...

Re: WANTED - 21" Alpina alloys

I had them on my E39 and in the end I got rid of them . If you have Tyre pressure monitor it will be forever going off.  They are just too soft and the valves can cause a problem when it comes to making a tight seal.
Not trying to put you off, just making sure you look very carefully when you buy .

Re: All season tyres - experiences / recomendations

Pirelly scorpion mud + snow tyres should do the job if that's what you are after . BMW Start rated . Last time we had proper snow I passed 3 LR's who were stuck. Smugly I had winter tyres on and sailed past. Its all about what shoes you have on. As you have rightly noticed, your trainers aren't much...

Re: WANTED - 21" Alpina alloys

[quote="KR"] As the title suggests interested in a set of 21" Alpina alloys for an E53 X5. Ideally in original color, dont mind little scuffs as willing to refurb if needed. Long as there not cracked or buckled. Willing to collect upto (50ml from London) but if seller wants to ship th...

Re: E70 common faults/ buyers guide

[quote="Blacksheep"] [quote="Nat"] Hello, I have had mine since April 13. 1st issue was front tyres done by 9000 miles. Tried to claim from BMW for that as car was new but had no luck. Think its terrible that a new car comes out with tracking that kills 2 tyres in 9000 miles. Any...

Re: Split/cracking driver seat - another photo

Result................ But only right too. Lets be clear , they should foot the bill. They certainly aren't scared to charge. The thick end of £1200 to fix that is outrageous. Clearly they are replacing a lot more but thats their call. I have 2 questions. 1. How about the other seat ? 2. Will you ne...
