Re: Timing chain guides on N62 4.4l

I owned a pre-facelift M62 4.4i. I have not heard of timing chain guide issues on N62 V8, however, I cannot definitively state it does not have them. See this thread on another site https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5-e53-forum/105589-do-n62-motors-have-timing-chain-guide-issues.html I suggest th...

Re: New to the forum, advice on potential remap?! 4.4

I have driven a prefacelift 4.4i E53 with a performame remap and my car (same engine) had a mild remap.

Some difference albeit improvement nothing to write home about IMO.

Don't expect to see as much improvent as when remapping a turbo diesel vehicle

Re: Anyone else with a pre facelift 3.0 petrol?

Expect 16 mpg on trips under 15- 20 mins or so. Keep an eye on the real time "indicated" mpg relative to the right foot......anticipate/plan well ahead to avoid stop/start type driving. Maybe get it scanned for codes.....a bad cam sensor won't always throw a yellow dash light. Poor plugs, ...

Re: Fit it or Flog it

Personally if I was to buy an E53 with one fitted it would go in the bin.....or on ebay.

I was happy to accept my E53 for what it was and kept it looking original.

Horses for courses.......if fitting this will bring happiness to you then great.

Re: Tyres??????

I am running 4 x matching Dunlop SP QUATTROMAXX on my current 4x4...(not an X5). No issues as such, no roll, ok in dry or wet albeit not tried a wet emergency stop yet. I ran diamaris on my E53 for 11 years before I sold it but would have replaced with Toyo Proxes ST. This based on reviews from owne...

Re: Anyone else with a pre facelift 3.0 petrol?

Undertray Expect 21 mpg average....if auto, driven very sensibly when warm (assuming no issues).teens in town mid-high 20s on a left lane motorway run. I would expect high teens average  driven without economy in mind. My 4.4i (totally different lump) returned under 10mpg urban when engine cold but ...

Re: Folding mirrors

Just found the following info for you after 30 mins of Google and forum searching (credit to rodgethedodge on xoutpost). The info was posted within last 6 months "I know this is an old thread but I sourced my switch from RS Components Ltd. I expect they would ship to the US. SPDT-NO/NC Roller L...

Re: Folding mirrors

Thanks for clarifying your post. As per my post (7) above...."nothing really evolved re sourcing" You could always try to make some calls or send emails. The part was available in bulk..It would simply be a case of asking the manufacturer to pass your contact details to one of their wholes...

Re: Folding mirrors

Bmw do not stock the switch as a part item. I researched this.....the switches were available but only as bulk order from the supplier. Prior discussed  on thread links  below albeit nothing useful really evolved re sourcing. http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4...

My Sunday.....

Got up & walked the dogs

Bought some groceries

Went to work....busy day , (returning near 11 hours later).

Tomorrow will be a slight variation to above plus squeezing in a hospital visit.
