Re: diy trans service
Well I can report no issues with transmission. I did over 200 miles at the weekend with no probs. The oil leak at the back of the engine I havnt located yet but I think the two vanos solenoid gaskets are knackered as the front of the engine is wet with oil. Must get some ...

Re: 8-speed or not?
I'm having trouble finding a decent LCI model at the right price, is there really that much deference between 6 and 8 speed?
You need to drive both for a fair comparison, but I had a pre-LCI 6 speed and now an LCI 8 speed and the box is definitely smoother - the ...

Re: New wheels for BMW X5 E70 - Advice needed

On my last e&0 I change the Bridgestone runflats to the same tyre in non-RFT. Seemed sensible as it was going to be the closest non-RFT to the factory tyre. Ride was excellent and handling didn't appear to suffer apart from the obvious extra squishiness which is inevitable going to non-RFT. Even...

Re: 8-speed or not?

yep, it was only the 2007 that had the £400+ tax. 2008 onwards are £280 and my LCI is the same.

Abc transmissions in Coventry did my e53 box rebuild for £1100 a few years ago.
Always liked those facelift alloys, but I prefer the new 6/6 gran coupe over this model..
I would hope so at 3x the price  ;)

This looks like a great find though for an e63. Looks very tidy.

Re: Xdrive40d Remap by Jason BWchiptune

I don't really monitor my MPG, and having had the car for only 3 weeks prior and having done only apx 200 miles, I have no idea what I was getting before. It shouldn't get worse from a remap, apart from when using the extra power (that goes without saying). I doubt I'll be making peak power very oft...

Re: Xdrive40d Remap by Jason BWchiptune
Only applies to LCI versions as BMW were aiming to prevent remaps.  It is one of the reasons that remapped cars can have the map overwritten the next time the car is plugged into a BMW network/server.  The OEM system can detect the change and simply wipes it back to 'as b...

Re: Xdrive40d Remap by Jason BWchiptune
Hi the remap sounds interesting seems to have change it into a more responsive car, definitely worthwhile ;) Your right about the spec it's ridiculous who would want a car with all of that,  :)) I would, and I've never seen one with all the options ticked was it a BMW GB...

Xdrive40d Remap by Jason BWchiptune

I have an Xdrive 40d. Amazing car but I felt like it was a bit sluggish. Not that it lacked in power (306bhp is 306bhp after all) but that it lacked in oomph, responsiveness, whatever you want to call it. It could get to silly speeds but it felt lazy getting there. I spoke to Jason about remapping i...

Re: How long has this X5 40d SE been for sale? (edited with link now added!)
Interested to know how they managed to fit all the seats in - according to the spec it has front comfort seats and front sports seats....
AUC website is terrible for that - every X5 seems to be listed as having comfort seats when they don't. Really frustrating wh...

Re: Reversing in the winter

what you are describing sounds normal - the reverse lights make a part of the camera picture basically useless. odd design flaw but not a fault with your system.
ok at best, sat nav is dreadful.  Sent from my iPhone
Yeah it's not great. I stopped using it in my pre-lci and ended up just relying on my phone. The A7 I had after my pre-LCI had google maps in the car, but my 2011 LCI has good enough nav that I don't miss that fr...
